Arm lines Anatomy Trains
The four Arm Lines run from the fingers and hand up the arm and across the chest and upper back to the trunk and neck. They explain why hand and forearm tension can show up as a stiff neck or shoulder.
Route
Where the four Arm Lines run
The model describes four lines, two at the front of the arm and two at the back.
Deep Front Arm Line
Thumb, forearm, biceps and pectoralis minor.
Superficial Front Arm Line
Palm, forearm flexors and pectoralis major.
Deep Back Arm Line
Little finger, triceps, rotator cuff and rhomboids.
Superficial Back Arm Line
Back of the hand, forearm extensors, deltoid and trapezius.
When they tighten
Signs of tight Arm Lines
Typing, gripping tools, climbing, racquet sports and carrying children all load the Arm Lines. People notice forearm ache, tennis or golfer's elbow, shoulders that roll forward and a neck that tightens by the end of the day.
Treatment
Releasing the Arm Lines
James releases the hand and forearm first, then the upper arm, the front of the shoulder and chest, the shoulder blade and the upper back and neck. Shoulder reach and neck rotation are measured before and after.
